EU threatens Meta with fines over 'addictive' Facebook and Instagram

The European Commission says Facebook and Instagram may use design features that encourage compulsive use, especially among children and teenagers. Meta could face a fine of up to 6% of global annual turnover if it fails to make changes, though the findings are not final and Meta says it has already introduced protections for teens.
