Do AI writing detectors actually work? We put 5 to the test.

A test of five AI writing detectors found that all of them recognized human-written samples, but their performance on AI-generated text varied widely. Pangram and GPTZero performed best, while Scribbr and Copyleaks missed some AI writing. The results suggest using several tools and other evidence rather than trusting a single score.
