Do American Parents Stop Supporting Their Children at 18?
Turning 18 gives young Americans important legal rights and responsibilities, but it rarely creates instant financial independence. College costs are usually covered through a combination of parent income and savings, student earnings, grants or scholarships, and loans, while independence is expressed more through decision-making and responsibility than through receiving no family help.
